I finished it for Jill and the results are...
The Dud Avocado ended up being an okay book. It was broken into three parts and parts two and three read much quicker and were less confusing. Unfortunately you have to get to page 153 before part two begins. There are only 255 pages in the book. My favorite part ended up being the last couple sentences. I don't know why but I thought they were very clever. The last word ended up being the last word in the dictionary. It was actually the second to last word in the dictionary I looked in but I am sure it was the last word listed in the 1958 version of the dictionary. :)

Two Books
I've just finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Literary Society. I wanted to recommend them both to the group if you have any extra time to read this summer. They were great!

Animal, Vegetable, ?
Hey Basil Readers. So today I realized that I had believed that the book was called Animal, Vegetable, Mineral. Why is that, I wonder? Has anyone else started reading it? I am kind of dying to discuss. We were at the cabin this weekend, so I got a lot of reading in.
I am struggling to balance feelings of curiosity, envy, disdain, anger, and intrigue. That's me right now.
Also, here is a link to the book's website. I am really dorking out about this book.

Liz's bookclub chicken
Here's the recipe from this week:
Layer the following on the bottom of the slow cooker:
1) 1 small package of dried beef (you can find it in the pre-packaged meat section with sliced deli meats)
2) 3 to 6 chicken breasts
3) mixture of 1 cup lite sour cream, 1 regular size can cream of mushroom soup (I used reduced fat) and 1/4 cup flour
Cook on low for 10 hours. For bookclub, I cooked for 2 hours on high and 2 hours on low.
Serve with stuffing.

Welcome!
Welcome Basil Readers and other guests. Over time I will attempt to organize this so that any of us can create a post. I will also try to figure out how you guys can create posts on here. I think I just have to make you account managers.
